International Tech Experts at the 6th edition of the Monaco Women Forum

The theme this year: the global and transversal impact of digitization and technology in society.

The Monaco Women Forum, placed under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, designed by journalist Cinzia Sgambati-Colman, preceded the 11th edition of the Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Prize on Friday March 24, 2023 at the Center of One Monte-Carlo Conferences.

Digitization and numerous advances in technology are redistributing the cards for a new society.

The 2023 edition of the Monaco Women Forum was devoted to the debate on the role of digitalization in the era of the transition towards a green economy and perhaps towards a near-zero cost society.

The theme of this new edition allowed speakers to share their expertise and progress made in their field, such as cyber security, technology for health, finance and digital assets, virtual economy for the development of smart city .

Mrs. Maria Betti, former director at the European Commission and the United Nations for the Environment and Energy, was the moderator of the guests in the debate:

Leanne Robers, Founder and President of She Loves Tech Global, Singapore.
Domitilla Benigni, CEO & COO Elettronica, President of Cy4Gate (cyber-security), President of Women4cyber -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
Maria Teresa Minotti, Director of PayPal, Italy
Dr. Veronica Iacovacci, Bio-Robotics Institute Sant'Anna, Italy
Manila di Giovanni, Founder and Director of DWorld, Monaco
Laurent Marochini, Head of Innovation of Société Générale, Luxembourg

Leanne Robers highlighted the challenges women face when entering the tech industry; she then dedicated herself to promoting equal access and opportunity for women in the field of technology. Manila Di Giovanni, the youngest winner of the Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Prize, presented her activities as CEO of her own company specializing in metaverse. But how is this research founded? Public and private money but also crowdfunding. Maria Teresa Minotti highlighted how and why the public is more interested in online transactions and Laurent Marochini discussed cryptocurrencies, how they are regulated and whether you should be afraid of them. Finally, Domitilla Benigni concluded the forum by highlighting what cybersecurity can protect citizens and how the weak link in the security chain is human behavior.

The subject tackled is very complex and the debate of the forum showed that it is very important to educate society on the new way of life thanks to solid information. Another important point is the need to encourage and empower women to engage in technology which should not remain a male dominated world.

The final address was delivered by Ornella Barra, Chief Operating Officer – International, of Walgreens Boots Alliance, sponsor of the event.
